"Truth is the way, Love is my law.  I AM AN ELITE WARRIOR!"
In today’s industry it is rare to find a Martial Arts School that will teach more than one
system.  I introduce you to Master Bruce Lee Cabaza Ortiz, the founder and president of
TAE SHO DO.

If one were to look up the definition of the systems, they would find that, Tae Kwon Do means
the way of the fist and feet.  Shotokan, if translated directly means "House of Waving Pine".
This was the pen name of a man that was also known as Shoto. That man was Gichin
Funakoshi, the founding father of Shotokan.  This system focused on releasing energy so that
strength and power were concentrated and maximized.  It emphasized proper breathing and
centered on obtaining optimal mind and body control.  Jujitsu is a weaponless art that focuses
on throws, blows, and locks. It is a system that uses the energy of the attacker against them.
When combined, it builds a powerhouse system that can produce some of the world's most
effective Martial Artists.  That system is TAE SHO DO.

Master Cabaza Ortiz began training in Shotokan with BSKC Karate, under Master Reno
Morales in 1985.  His diligence as a student earned him recognition early on.  Quickly moving
up the ranks, he began teaching his fellow Dojo brothers and sisters even before earning his
black belt.

In November 1994, he earned his 1st Dan Black Belt in Shotokan.  His training did not stop
there.  A love for the Art led him to begin training shortly after in Judo, Jujitsu and Tae Kwon
Do, while continuing his training in Shotokan.  His Tae Kwon Do instructor, Master Rafael Lora
soon realized Bruce Lee Cabaza Ortiz was a natural.

Bruce Lee soon found comradeship with his Jujitsu Sensei, John Ortega and his Master Nick
Harrison.  His life was now engulfed by the Arts. Training did not end once he walked out of the
Dojo, for his Dojo was in his heart.  This dedication and his thirst for advancement, along with
his curiosity led him to Capoeira, a Brazilian form of Martial Arts.

From 1997 through 1998, he taught Shotokan and Tae Kwon Do as a volunteer instructor at
the Grand Street Settlement after school program in New York.  In 1999, he earned his 2nd Dan
Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and became an instructor at both, Grosvenor Neighborhood House
and Aspira of NY.

In 2003, he met Master D’Artagnan Parra Sr. of Parra’s Tae Kwon Do Federation, and expanded
his training and knowledge with his new family.  He earned his 3rd Dan Black Belt in
Shotokan, under Grand Master Carlos Diaz, of the World Union of Sokes in Puerto Rico, in
October 2004.

In 2006, Master Cabaza Ortiz once again hooked up with his old friend, Jujitsu Meikyo John
Ortega and became part of the San Yama Bushi Ryu Jujitsu family.  Under Shihah Negron, he
trains to perfect his Jujitsu and Self-Defense skills.

Bruce Lee expanded his family, increased his status and gained further recognition, in February
2006 when he was made an official lifetime member of the World Union of Sokes.

He currently holds a Silver medal for weapons and a Bronze medal for katas (forms) from the
1998 American Black Belt Championship held in Santa Barbara, California. After eight years
without entering a competition, 2006 brought Master Cabaza Ortiz
3rd place in Sparring and 4th place in Traditional Forms at Charlie Lee's 2006 National World
Tournament, held in Reston, Virginia.  Months later, Bruce Lee brought home 3rd place
trophies for sparring and forms from the Twin Towers 2006 International Karate Tournament.
That was only the beginning.

September 15th, 2006 Master Cabaza Ortiz was inducted into the World Union of Sokes Hall of
Fame as Instructor of the Year!  That is an accomplishment that is only bestowed on the very
best!

June 2007 brought Master Bruce Lee Cabaza Ortiz yet another accomplishment when he was
promoted to 5th Dan in Tae Kwon Do under Master D’Artagnan Parra Sr. as well as, Grand
Master Michael DeFillipo of DeFillipo’s Tae Kwon Do & Hapkido Academy (also a member of the
World Union of Sokes.)  August brought yet another 3rd place trophy for sparring at the Twin
Towers Tournament.

In November of the same year, he was inducted into the Eastern U.S.A. Martial Arts Hall of
Fame for "Special Recognition." He continues to compete and bring home first and second place
trophies for sparring and forms and in November 2009 competed in his very first grappling
competition hosted by the North American Grappling Association. (NAGA) and brought home
3rd place.

As the years go by, his growth continues.  Tae Sho Do is now an authorized school and system
under the Nindo Ryu Bujutsu system headed by O’Sensei Carlos Febres. Master Cabaza Ortiz
now holds the rank of Rokudan (6th degree).

He was honored by the World Martial Art League in August 2010 with the induction into their
Hall of Fame as "American Male I.T.F. TaeKwonDo Instructor of the Year."

At the present time he is training under Sabunim Mike Mullero and Sensei Fabricio Medici at
NEMMA (Next Evolution Mixed Martial Arts.)

Master Ortiz teaches his TAE SHO DO system at 3 different locations in the Bronx and offers
private lessons for any and all that are interested.
