Self-Defense
How many of us would REALLY know how to defend ourselves if we
needed to? Some of us have a natural instinct, others do not, they
freeze. Self-defense is one of the most important things we could
learn in order to help preserve ourselves.
Most of us don't realize that while training is key, there are things one
can do, if you lack the training, to keep wrong doers at bay. People
also fail to realize that there are multiple props contained in one's
pocket / purse that can be used as a self defense aid. First and
foremost, use the K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) rule and start with
the basics.
- Always be aware of your surroundings.
- Keep on alert mode - (less chance of being surprised with an attack)
- When walking down the sidewalk, do not walk on the side of the buildings, keep
toward the center where one can not easily pull you into a building or a car.
- Remember the fingers! They can be used to poke and gouge.
- Keys can be placed in the hand protruding from the fingers.
- Tweezers and Pens can also be used
- Pepper spray
- If caught off guard SCREAM, if possible, they will not like the attention it draws.
- RUN
- Take self-defense classes
